The court recovered more than 1 million rubles from a resident of Tatarstan, who provided cybercriminals with her data for issuing a fictitious account, the press service of the Prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region reports.

As follows from the materials of the criminal case, in March last year, the phone of a 70-year-old resident of Volgograd received a call allegedly from a police officer, who, under the pretext of stopping fraudulent actions, offered to transfer savings to a "safe" account. A gullible pensioner transferred 965 thousand rubles, after which it turned out that he was the victim of fraud.

A criminal case was opened on this fact on the grounds of a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

The investigation found that the money was transferred to the bank account of a 22-year-old resident of Tatarstan. The girl, for a monetary reward, provided the attackers with her personal data for registration of fictitious accounts to which the stolen funds were transferred.

"According to the law, a person who has acquired property at the expense of another person (the victim) without the grounds established by law, is obliged to return the property acquired unreasonably to the latter," the press service of the Prosecutor's office explained.

The prosecutor's office of the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd filed a claim to the Novo-Savinovsky District Court of Kazan for recovery of unjust enrichment from the account holder, interest for using other people's money and compensation for moral damage.

The court decision in favor of the pensioner was collected 1 million 34 thousand rubles.
