The court sentenced a native of Novosibirsk, Yevgeny Kim, to 7 years in prison for telephone fraud, as a result of which more than 1.3 million rubles were stolen from 16 people, the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region reported.

"In the court session, it was established that the previously convicted Kim called residents of the Zhirnovsky and Staropoltava districts of the Volgograd region, introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and reported that the relatives of the interlocutors were in an accident. He demanded various amounts, allegedly to help the victims of the accident. In this way, more than 1 million 350 thousand rubles were stolen from 16 victims," the press service said.

The Staropoltavsky District Court of the Volgograd Region found Kim guilty of committing crimes under part 3 of article 30, parts 2, 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud), parts 2, 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

According to the verdict, Kim will serve his sentence in a special regime penal colony.

The sentence entered into force.
