The text below was posted four years ago on Reddit by a user under the pseudonym Luca Magnotta. This user did not appear on the network again. Links to the text still regularly pop up in discussions about the future of cryptocurrencies.

I have come to you from the future with a request to stop your activities. I am sending this message from 2025. The situation here is lousy, and some of you are responsible for it. If you don't believe me, you don't have to read any more. I still don't have a way to prove that I am who I say I am. Now I'll get to the point, so as not to waste your time.

Each year, the value of bitcoin increased tenfold on average. From $ 0.1 in 2010 to $ 1 in 2011, to $ 10 in 2012, to $ 100 in 2013. Then the pace slowed and the cost began to increase tenfold every two years: up to $ 1,000 in 2015, up to $ 10,000 in 2017, $ 100,000 in 2019, and $ 1,000,000 in 2021.

From this point on, it became pointless to express the value of bitcoin in dollars, because dollars were no longer used, and central banks stopped printing money. Today, wealth exists in two main forms: land and cryptocurrency.

There are just over 19 million bitcoins in circulation, several hundred thousand are lost forever, and the world is still inhabited by approximately 7 billion people. On average, there is theoretically less than 0.003 bitcoins per person, but in reality, due to the unequal distribution of wealth, it is 0.001. Yes, many of you who are reading this right now are rich. An unpleasant young man lived next door to me, and two years ago he went to his old Reddit account and discovered that back in 2013, when he was 16, he received a 0.01 bitcoin " tip " for calling someone a homo.

"What is a citadel?" you might ask. When bitcoin rose to $1,000, services began to appear to protect the "bitcoin rich" and their assets. It all started with expensive safes, then there were bodyguards, and today "early" (as we call those who started using cryptocurrency earlier than others) and rich people from those whose wealth survived the "transition" live in citadels-isolated cities with a high degree of robotization. Most of the citadels were built on the site of fortifications built to protect bitcoin mining machines.

In my world, which will soon be yours, most governments have ceased to exist because anonymous bitcoin transactions have prevented them from continuing to effectively collect taxes from citizens. The success of bitcoin was largely determined by the fact that it offered an effective method of hiding wealth from the government.

In today's society, governments have tried to stay in the game by buying up bitcoins. But this only worsened the problem, as the result of bitcoin increased even more in value. Of course, governments did this in secret, and the "Snowdens" of my generation turned out to be just greedy government employees -they transferred bitcoins to their private accounts and disappeared into anarchist territories where they don't ask questions as long as you pay.

The largest assets of still available bitcoins today belong to four entities:
─ ASICminer: 50,000 Bitcoins;
─ "Currency Stabilization Fund" of the IMF: 70,000 bitcoins;
─ Saudi Government: 110,000 Bitcoins;
─ Government of North Korea: 180,000 bitcoins.

Economic growth is -2% per year. Why is this so? Because if you own more than 0.01 bitcoins, chances are you're not doing anything with your money. There is no inflation, so there is no incentive to invest.

Just as there was no significant economic growth in the Middle Ages, because wealth was measured in gold, so there is no economic growth in our society, because people know that 0.01 bitcoins will last them for life. The world is only protected from collapse by the fact that new bitcoins are still appearing, but people are afraid that a new decrease in inflation, which will occur during the next halving, will collapse our economy.

Bitcoin future
What happened to the Winklevoss twins? The Winklevoss twins were among the first to die. When the structure of society burst at the seams, terrorist groups emerged, harassing and destroying all major holders of bitcoins and those who were considered in any way connected with the development of cryptocurrencies. Paradoxically, the terrorists used bitcoin to finance their operations.

People who own a significant amount of bitcoins have lost friends and cut off contacts with their families, as they were forced to change their identity. Some committed suicide after seeing firsthand what happened to the skeptical bag holders, who waited until the very end, even after rumors spread that governments were buying up cryptocurrencies, for bitcoin to collapse. Many owners of bitcoins have been held hostage, and there is reason to believe that a quarter of the "bitcoin rich" are those who were tortured to extract passwords from stolen people.

Why didn't we abandon bitcoin and switch to another system?
We tried. We tried switching to an inflationary cryptocurrency, but no one with an IQ above 70 wanted to use it. After all, why voluntarily invest a lot of money in a currency in which your fortune will gradually decrease? What made bitcoin so successful also made it dangerous to society. Bitcoin has allowed us to indulge in the sin of greed.

According to surveys, 70% of people in Africa believe that bitcoin was invented by the devil. They have reason to believe so. For Africans, this is still a very sensitive topic, and when they mention it, they only call it "Tragedy". The African Union had an ambitious plan for the civilized transfer of its citizens from fiat to bitcoin. Governments have distributed free mobile phones linked to unique government identifiers to citizens in order to integrate cryptocurrency into the economy. And everything was going well until the Tragedy occurred.

Do you want to ask what our plan is now?
It is obvious that the current situation in the world cannot be resolved without a nuclear conflict. I am part of an underground network that is preparing a coordinated attack against the very infrastructure of the Internet. We have 20 nuclear submarines at our disposal, with which we will damage all submarine cables between continents. After that, we will simultaneously strike all densely populated areas of the world with pulsed nuclear weapons. We believe that the resulting chaos will allow humanity to rise up, and we will destroy computers until Bitcoin loses its value.

Yes, billions will die. This is the price we must pay to free humanity from the eternal enslavement of a handful of elites.

That's why we contacted you. Warn. It should have been different. You must not repeat our fate. Destroy this project before it's too late. I know this is hard for you to believe, because you believe that you are helping the world get rid of the cartel of central banks that rule your economy.

But I saw what it would eventually lead to"

Everything would be fine... "a joke of humor".... but here's the original, 4 years old, guys.
