"Cybercrime officers of the Hrodna region identified and detained an 18-year-old Minsk resident who took advantage of the vulnerability of electric scooters, causing damage to the rental company", the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
It was established that the defendant created 220 accounts in the application, to which he linked a bank card with a zero balance. "Since the money is debited at the end of the trip, he was able to ride for free. In this way, the attacker made over 600 trips. In addition, he rented out other people's property to friends or found clients on the Internet, making a profit. Over time, the young man believed in his impunity so much that he began to write complaints to the support service with various claims", the press service noted.
The damage to the company exceeded Br33 thousand, and investigators opened a criminal case for causing property damage without signs of theft, committed on a large scale.
