Employees of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Central District Department of Internal Affairs revealed the fact of fraud: a 26-year-old Minsk resident stole more than 18 thousand rubles from a 74-year-old pensioner.
In May, the elderly man registered on a thematic site and chose the female profile he liked, after which he began correspondence in the messenger and bought several erotic photos from the interlocutor.
The communication lasted about four months, during which the pensioner, under various pretexts, transferred money to his virtual lover, including for intimate content, promises of a personal meeting and on credit for the construction of an apartment.
In total, the man made 141 transfers in the amount of at least 18 thousand rubles. Upon learning about the incident, his son turned to the police.
Operatives found that the pensioner transferred all the money to the balances of online games and casinos, and a 26-year-old resident of the Zavodskoy district communicated with him on behalf of the woman.
A criminal case has been opened for fraud on a large scale.
