In Engels, an individual entrepreneur contacted the police department and reported fraud committed against him. The 49-year-old applicant explained that he sells and delivers flowers and related holiday gifts, posting relevant offers on the website with the possibility of online payment. During the New Year holidays, the demand for flowers and soft toys was quite high, so the victim did not immediately notice a rather noticeable shortage in financial income. In particular, after delivering flowers and toys to clients in Saratov in the amount of about 100 thousand rubles, only 1 ruble was credited to the entrepreneur’s account. The businessman contacted the police. Criminal investigation officers brought two Saratov residents born in 2002 and 2005 to the police department on suspicion of committing fraud. The perpetrators confessed, explaining that they generously donated the flowers and toys they purchased almost free of charge to their family and close friends.
In the interests of the investigation, we will not reveal the detailed mechanism of deception; we will only say that the attackers took advantage of the lack of special protection on the online ordering site, transferring a significantly smaller amount to the entrepreneur.
In the near future, novice hackers will face serious problems with the law. Based on the identified episodes of fraudulent actions by attackers, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
