The Sovetsky District Court of the city of Rostov-on-Don sentenced a telephone fraudster who stole funds from 48 people to 7 years in a strict regime colony, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office told RAPSI.
The court found that from March 2022 to May 2023, the defendant stole over 370 thousand rubles from 48 residents of various regions of Russia. "The attacker called the numbers of taxi drivers, asked to buy products and deliver them to the building of the local administration, an employee of which he introduced himself," the prosecutor's office specified.
In addition, the fraudster asked to transfer money to a phone number or to a virtual bank card account, promising to reimburse the money for the services rendered soon. He disposed of the money received at his own discretion. The court found the man guilty of committing crimes under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
