So this is a sketchy way to do it but it avoids having to purchase blanks. many prepaids have numbers almost impossible to remove from my experience. i finally found 1 that works and comes out perfect.

American express prepaid giftcards

(or any other with slightly raised numbers, most are heat stamped and colored or printed with reverse dye sublimation or inkjet, these will not work. only ones working with this method are ones printed with a debossed press or a thicker latex based ink.)

what you need:

a card
a wet cloth
vegetable oil/wd-40
exacto knife

rub the wet rag on the top of the card pretty fast, like you are trying to scru the numbers off, this makes the ink slightly softer.

now spray the lubricant over the op of the card. this prevents scratching of the actual card.

now take the card and bend it lightly at the numbers, take the middle part of the knife and in a long swipe go across the numbers at a 10 degree angle or so from the card. do this swipe 3-4 more times. it takes practice but works flawlessly. after this emboss and be on your way. you need to get the hang of it and it ONLY works with these american express cards so far from my tests but as most know that does not mean too much.

enjoy, any questions, feel free to ask. if this is common knowledge i apologize, i figured it would help somebody out as it took me abit of trial and error.

It was working with greendot gm and and many many others and what the hell you use knife and lube for? The real way is to use acetone and rag only.

ah see around me is not, i have tried acetone, sodium hydroxide and many other things. the knife will just scrape the numbers clean off and oil makes sure the face does not scratch and the blade slides smoothly. for some reason greendots are the hardest in my area i have tried countless things. im not saying there are not other ways but this is quick and easy. acetone never worked for me. if anything a solution oh hydrogen peroxide and acetone and bleach should work (can take the ink off bank notes) but it has not.

ive tried
prepaid vinillas
greendots
prepaid amex
and mastercard gifts

and this specific american express was the first to work.

Im pretty sure your doing something wrong since I used nail polish remover and it worked great. Maybe you just need to workout at the gym to strengthen those frail arms and hands of yours.

hahahah i can bench you with 1 arm my man, i think it was because i was using nailpolish remover and not pure acetone (probably 60% acetone) im not saying it does not work but this does, do what you will with it. if you dont mind me asking, what cards did you use with the acetone? greendot?

Please note, if you want to make a deal with this user, that it is blocked.
Bro u guys use hard ways all u have to do is use nail filer and scrarch off then clean the card with a wet rag lol

ok just did it your way, seems to be abit to many scratches to make up for would work if tipped and at a distance but plain embossing will not cut it. it got the numbers off the mastercard and vanilla though.

I never was thinking about this ..

ater you user manual or datacard embosser or whatever?

yes to create a blank pretty much, to create your own it takes alot of investment because on top of the embosser and encoder, you need a tipper, a printer, blanks, sig panels, holos, temps and many other things. this takes out some of the needed equipment but in return it takes away from the final product.
