So this is a sketchy way to do it but it avoids having to purchase blanks. many prepaids have numbers almost impossible to remove from my experience. i finally found 1 that works and comes out perfect.
American express prepaid giftcards
(or any other with slightly raised numbers, most are heat stamped and colored or printed with reverse dye sublimation or inkjet, these will not work. only ones working with this method are ones printed with a debossed press or a thicker latex based ink.)
what you need:
a card
a wet cloth
vegetable oil/wd-40
exacto knife
rub the wet rag on the top of the card pretty fast, like you are trying to scru the numbers off, this makes the ink slightly softer.
now spray the lubricant over the op of the card. this prevents scratching of the actual card.
now take the card and bend it lightly at the numbers, take the middle part of the knife and in a long swipe go across the numbers at a 10 degree angle or so from the card. do this swipe 3-4 more times. it takes practice but works flawlessly. after this emboss and be on your way. you need to get the hang of it and it ONLY works with these american express cards so far from my tests but as most know that does not mean too much.
enjoy, any questions, feel free to ask. if this is common knowledge i apologize, i figured it would help somebody out as it took me abit of trial and error.
