Officers of the UBK of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region detained two Chelyabinsk residents who hacked into the accounts of citizens on the "State Services" and issued loans and microloans for them.
As part of a previously initiated criminal case on the fact of illegal access to computer information, officers of the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Chelyabinsk Region, together with colleagues from the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Emanzhelinsky District, detained two residents of the city of Chelyabinsk on suspicion of committing illegal acts.
It was established that two defendants, born in 1996 and 1998, received unauthorized access to citizens' accounts on the State Services portal. After that, the attackers issued loans and microloans for them in financial institutions, and then transferred the money received to their accounts.
Police officers conducted five searches at the places of residence and illegal activities of the detainees. During them, SIM cards of various mobile operators, bank cards, mobile phones, computers and property purchased with stolen money were seized. This "arsenal" was used by Chelyabinsk residents for criminal purposes.
The investigation of the criminal case initiated on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation continues. The police are taking further measures aimed at establishing additional episodes of criminal activity of the detainees.
There is reason to believe that not only residents of the South Urals, but also other regions of Russia could suffer from the illegal actions of the defendants.
