M-PESA Transaction & Wallet Limits (Kenya, 2026)

Safaricom has not changed the core M-PESA limits since the major increase approved by the Central Bank of Kenya in August 2023. These limits remain in force throughout 2026 and apply to all registered personal and business (Pochi La Biashara / Business Till) accounts.

Maximum Account Balance	500,000	Highest amount you can hold in your M-PESA wallet at any time. Incoming transfers that would exceed this are rejected.
Maximum Daily Transaction Value	500,000	Total value of all transactions in a 24-hour period (sends + withdrawals + payments + receipts).
Maximum Per Transaction	250,000	Highest single send, withdrawal, Lipa Na M-PESA, PayBill, or bank transfer amount.
Minimum Withdrawal at Agent	50	You cannot withdraw less than KSh 50 at an agent (ATM minimums are different).
Minimum Send Amount	1	You can send as little as KSh 1, but fees apply above KSh 100.

Important Additional Details​

• These limits are the same for transfers to other M-PESA users, Pochi La Biashara, Business Till, other mobile money networks (Airtel Money, T-Kash), and bank accounts.
• Verification: All users must be fully registered with ID. There are no extra “tiers” — every verified account gets the full limits above.
• International Inbound: Transfers from Wise, Western Union, Remitly, WorldRemit, etc. are also subject to these same limits. If a transfer would push you over 500,000 KSh balance or 500,000 KSh daily total, it will be rejected or held.
• Business Accounts: Pochi La Biashara and Business Till follow the exact same limits (no higher caps).
• No changes in 2026: Multiple official announcements and news sources from early 2026 confirm the limits are unchanged from the 2023 increase.

Quick Tips​

• If you regularly hit the daily limit, split transfers across days or use multiple registered numbers (each has its own limits).
• For very large amounts, consider direct bank transfers via PesaLink or Lipa Na M-PESA PayBill instead of pure M-PESA wallet transfers.
• Always check the latest in the mySafaricom app or by dialing *334# → 6 (Tariffs & Limits) for any last-minute regulatory tweaks.
