The investigative unit of the Main Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Altai Territory has completed the investigation of a criminal case initiated on the fact of fraud and illegal turnover of payment funds, in which two residents of Barnaul are involved.
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that the men born in 1992 and 1996 were accomplices in a criminal scheme to deceive citizens under the pretext of transferring funds allegedly to secure accounts.
The role of the attackers was to search for so – called drops-people who, for a small amount, agreed to take over bank accounts and SIM cards for the subsequent transfer of banking details to telephone scammers.
Fraudsters misled citizens and convinced them to transfer their savings to drop accounts, and residents of Barnaul then cashed out the stolen money and sent it to employers.
One of the victims of such deception, as established by the investigation, was a pensioner from Ryazan. Under the pretext of saving savings, 820 thousand rubles were stolen from her. In six transactions, the woman transferred them to several accounts. 450 thousand of this amount went to one of the cards of Barnaul residents. To withdraw the stolen cash, the accomplices went to Novosibirsk. In the same place, leaving a small percentage for themselves, they sent finances to "employers" via an ATM.
Illegal activities of the accused were stopped by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Altai Territory. During the search at the place of residence of the accomplices, bank cards and mobile phones were seized.
Currently, the criminal case under Articles 159 and 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been sent to the court for consideration on the merits. The defendants are under recognizance not to leave and proper behavior.
