As a result of carrying out a complex of operational search measures, employees of the Department for combating cybercrime of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Volgograd region, with the assistance of colleagues from the district police department and special forces of Rosgvardiya, detained 16-and 23-year-old residents of the regional center.
According to investigators, the detainees called residents of various regions, posing as employees of the bank. During the conversation, the scammers offered to double the loyalty bonuses. They sent an SMS message with a code that gave attackers access to the personal account of the citizen's mobile application, and then stole money from their accounts.
Implementing operational developments, on the eve of the police established the location of the suspects and detained them. Cell phones, bank cards and other items relevant to the investigation of the criminal case were seized from them.
A criminal case was initiated, and the suspects were given a preventive measure in the form of recognizance not to leave and proper behavior. All episodes of their illegal activities are established.
