The head of the messenger reminded that the TON platform was created by Telegram several years ago. Last year, the opportunity to trade users with their IDs and names was introduced on the Fragment auction platform, which operates on the basis of TON.
According to Durov, this project was extremely successful:
"Telegram sold $ 120 million worth of digital assets at auctions, and the first buyers of some Telegram-related digital assets, such as anonymous Telegram numbers, saw a 27-fold (!) increase in their value in just 9 months," the head of the company writes.
Durov notes that this success showed the potential of Web 3.0 within Telegram. Now the company plans to further integrate the blockchain into the messenger. As a first step, the TON Wallet mini-app was created in collaboration with the TON community.
"Starting in November of this year, TON Wallet will be included in the settings and attachments menu for all our users outside of the United States and some other countries (if you added Wallet and you have the latest version of Telegram installed, you can already see the wallet option in the menu). This step will allow developers to implement hundreds of valuable new features similar to those first implemented in Fragment. TON Wallet, a third-party mini-app inside Telegram, will introduce a whole new Web 3.0 dimension to hundreds of millions of Telegram users," Durov writes.
