The founder of the messenger changes the rules of the game in favor of the law.
The founder of the Telegram messenger, Pavel Durov, announced significant changes in the work of the platform aimed at countering the spread of illegal materials.
According to Durov, recently, the Telegram moderation team, using artificial intelligence, has carried out large-scale work to clean search results from problematic content. This was a necessary step, as some users abused the search function to promote illegal goods.
The creator of the messenger noted that the Telegram search engine differs from its counterparts in other messaging applications in its ability to find public channels and bots. However, it was this feature that attracted the attention of violators of the rules of the service.
As part of the fight against illegal activity, the company has updated its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, making them uniform around the world. They now clearly spell out the ability to disclose the IP addresses and phone numbers of violators to the appropriate authorities upon receipt of valid legal requests.
Durov called on users to actively participate in maintaining the security of the platform, suggesting that they report found unsafe or illegal content through a special channel @SearchReport.
According to the founder of Telegram, these measures are designed to protect users and strengthen the security of the platform, making it safer for almost a billion active users around the world.
