Don't let scammers hack into your personal life.

Experts warn about a new danger associated with the use of public Wi-Fi networks, which can lead to the theft of accounts in the Telegram messenger. Fraudulent Wi-Fi was detected at Sheremetyevo Airport, however, such a threat may be waiting for users in any place where free open Wi-Fi is available.

Fraudsters use a scheme in which a user, when connecting to such a network (in our case, it was a network called SVO_Free), receives a message about the need to register through a Telegram account. After sending the access code, scammers gain full control over the account, and the user loses access to it.

To prevent such incidents, experts strongly recommend that you never enter Telegram access codes when connecting to Wi-Fi, do not use open free Wi-Fi networks to access the Internet, and instead use mobile Internet. It is also important to periodically check the list of connected devices in the Telegram settings in order to detect unauthorized access in time.

Earlier, we reported on an increase in cases of theft of mobile numbers among users in Russia for illegal access to their online banking. Criminals carry out" hijacking " of numbers, using mechanisms of substitution or restoration of the eSIM-digital SIM card which replaces the traditional physical SIM card in some models of smartphones.
