Fraudsters lost 13 million after Durov's statement.

The scammers involved in the Mammoth scheme announced their abandonment of Telegram after the innovations announced by Pavel Durov and began the transition to their own platforms.

On September 23, 2024, Durov published a post in which he said that Telegram would begin transferring the IP addresses and phone numbers of users who violate the rules of use of the platform, in response to reasonable legal requests from official bodies. This statement caused panic among a number of scammers who actively use Telegram for their activities.

Amid this news, at least one major team working on the "Mammoth" scheme, with 10,805 subscribers on its main channel, announced a complete withdrawal from the platform. For security reasons, they decided to move their activities to an independent web platform, and also created an anonymous onion site to further protect their members.

This news also made other fraudulent groups think: some teams began to discuss the possibility of moving to other platforms, and some workers temporarily hid or deleted their accounts, watching the development of events. According to experts, over the past four weeks, the income of 70% of fraudulent groups operating under the Mammoth scheme has decreased by about 22% - from 58 million to 45 million rubles.

The situation was complicated by the fact that the CryptoBot service, which was widely used for withdrawing funds, introduced new protection measures, which led to mass blocking of fraudulent accounts. This created additional difficulties for withdrawals, and despite the fact that some problems are being resolved, the activities of a number of fraudulent teams were still temporarily disrupted.

Earlier, the group "Ghosts of Palestine" announced plans to find a more secure messenger and considered leaving the platform.
