Two days later, on August 19, it became clear that the attackers had disrupted some of the company's servers and business processes.
At the moment, Microchip Technology, together with the involved information security experts, continues to investigate the incident, assessing the scale and consequences of the attack. At the same time, work is underway to restore the affected IT systems and return to normal operations.
The company notes that at the current stage it is impossible to accurately determine the full scope and nature of the damage. In this regard, it is not yet known whether the incident will have a significant impact on the financial condition or operating results of the company. Despite the fact that the company did not disclose the nature of the attack, a number of signs set out in the SEC report suggest that we are talking about ransomware. However, at the moment, no known group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Representatives of Microchip Technology have not yet given official comments.
