In Brest, an illegal cryptocurrency trader was identified, whose turnover exceeded Br500 thousand. A resident of Brest was engaged in converting money stolen from Belarusians on a specialized exchange. BelTA learned this from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Employees of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs, together with colleagues from the Leninsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Brest, identified a 33-year-old local resident who was engaged in illegal cryptocurrency trafficking.

As law enforcement officers found out, the man as an intermediary made purchase and sale transactions on specialized exchanges. Thus, they were able to cash out and convert funds stolen from Belarusian citizens. Illegal turnover totaled more than half a million rubles.

Administrative reports have been drawn up against the violator for illegal business activities. The sanction of the article provides for a large fine and the appeal to the state revenue of the withdrawn cryptocurrency, as well as the entire amount that has passed through crypto wallets.
