"I used to invest, so I trusted and agreed": another fake exchange took 4.5 million rubles from a 43-year-old resident of the Kuraginsky district

In January of this year, the man received a call from an unknown number. The woman on the other end of the phone introduced herself as an employee of a well-known investment company and offered her interlocutor to "earn extra money" on cryptocurrency. Previously, the man was already interested in the topic of investment and even tried himself in this business. But even despite the past experience, he did not notice the trick and agreed. The attacker connected her victim with a certain consultant, who told her about the basic conditions for working with the exchange.

Then invest-specialist contacted the man via Skype and helped him install the necessary applications for "earning". The fraudster explained how to work with the programs and offered to invest the first money. So on the fake exchange was the first 150 thousand rubles. After a successful transaction, the victim dared to issue a loan for 1.3 million rubles. The proceeds also appeared on the scammers account.

The amounts in the platform's merchant profile continued to grow. Then the man decided to back up the success with another loan and transfer 700 thousand rubles. A week later, personal savings were used. In several "visits", the victim sent 2.5 million rubles "to nowhere".

Soon the man realized that for two weeks he had been communicating not with high-class investment specialists, but with real cybercriminals. In the hope of returning the stolen amounts, he turned to law enforcement officers. A criminal case on fraud was initiated.

Employees of the Prosecutor's Office urge citizens to be vigilant. Since the beginning of the year, 1,211 residents of the region have become victims of remote fraudsters (+284 in the last week). Criminals stole 272 million rubles (+59 million rubles in the last week).
