A solid way to hide your Data from the FEDS

Now When the feds come knocking at your door u just make sure u shut off your computer in your house to make sure that your connecting to your virtual safe place is disconnected. And then now u can open the door and allow them in and make sure u offer them tea...and tell them to take all the evidence they want..with a smile.

sounds like a great idea, only wondering if they checked if they could find a trace of the connection if they checked on the computer you have

TrueCrypt 2 Linux systems ( one clean & one for work )
openvpn , pidgin + otr --- custom install ( on work system only )

Don't use hidemyass.com!

rather than buying a extra computer to put it somewhere else, its better to get a bulletproof VPS/server, and run all you activities there.

I hope you'll come with a good reliable argument.

First of all do not fully encrypt your HDD; instead make a container, and a hidden container with all your secret data. This is called plausible deniability, you give the feds your normal password to the normal container, and your hidden container is safe. There is no way to detect the hidden container.

Secondly, there was some good advice here by pocoy0 (expect full drive encryption) and dollargreed.

Lets examine;
KeyScrambler (encrypts your key stores), good against software keyloggers.

Eraser is good to wipe files securely.

OpenVPN is the standard to use, don't use PPTP!

Pidgin+OTR is the way to go for secure communications.

DeepFreeze enables you to clean your PC session quickly, so its useful too.

Don't use AOL; they fully cooperate with LE (Law Enforcement).

Now for hidemyass.com and proxpn, both are useful and provide you digital safety online, but the problem is they are placed in Los Angeles and San Fransisco respectively. They are placed in US, and as far as concerning US jurisdictions they will fully cooperate with LE!

Better as h1dd3n mentioned, to buy a VPS or VDS somewhere in Russia, China or any of the Arabs countries and create a SSH (Secure Shell) encrypted connection.

TrueCrypt is good as it is open source, and generally you shouldn't use proprietary software. But Jetico the creators of BestCrypt promised that they have no backdoors in BestCrypt as their government doesn't force them to. Furthermore they have released a BDK - BestCrypt Development Kit open freely to examine which contains all codes for encryption and hash algorithms so I trust them and if I trust them so should you. Also they have invaluable functions such as hot key to wipe RAM to counter a Cold Boot Attack and keyboard filters against software keyloggers.

I think he is referring to hidemyass handing over the IP of some lulzsec kids.

Not that that is any surprise, the commercial services like this have a business to protect and will always turn your info over, but they still have their uses.

Better to have your own setup, if possible.

Yea those kids getting arrested was what I was reffering to.
Don't use a USA/Western Europe based VPN provider. PayPal with the russian providers here that have proven reputation.

and still can configure own vpn , thru server too example (2008 servers)
