Zero-transfer phishing is a relatively new cryptoscam scheme that relies on accessing the victim's transaction history on the Tron network. Usually, everything works as follows: the victim sends a large amount of USDT from the crypto wallet, after which he immediately receives a zero amount from an address very similar to the one to which the funds were previously sent. The entire calculation is made so that the inattentive victim will copy the wrong address next time and send the crypt directly into the hands of scammers.
In addition to the $451 million lost in the Tron network, there were other reports of large losses due to phishing in various blockchain networks — recently in the Ethereum network, a user of the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange wallet lost $4.46 million by transferring assets to a phishing address.
Similarly, a well-known cryptokit lost $24.23 million in Ethereum due to a phishing attack, despite its experience in this area. This case is considered one of the largest in the field of cryptofishing in recent times.
