How Google fights hackers, phishers and other "evil spirits".
Google introduced an updated set of security tools for its Workspace cloud service. The tools are aimed at countering phishing and unauthorized access to user accounts.
Key innovations include multi-factor authentication for individuals who attempt to change important security settings. The administrator who adjusts the system settings will need confirmation from another administrator.
According to Google specialist Andy Vena, this will prevent attackers even if an account with extended rights is compromised.
For ordinary users of Workspace, security measures will also be strengthened. For example, an artificial intelligence model will automatically detect and block suspicious activity.
New mechanisms will prevent targeted attacks at an early stage, preventing consequences. As emphasized in Google, the developers took into account all possible scenarios and types of threats.
The company has simplified the transfer of activity logs (logs) from Workspace to a special Chronicle storage.
Chronicle is a cloud-based information security event analysis service developed by Google itself. It works on the principle of SIEM systems (Security information and event management).
This means that the investigation of incidents will take much less time.
So far, only some features are available in test mode. A full launch is expected in the coming months.
