Unfortunately, bank regularly receives requests from customers on the topic that the ATM "ate" the money, but did not add it to the card. As you can imagine, this problem remains relevant to this day. Although, if we take into account the colossal number of bank ATMs, the number of transactions carried out through them, then the probability of being left without money is not so high.

What if the ATM has withdrawn the money?
If the ATM has accepted the money, but has not credited it to the bank card, do not panic. Immediately after the error occurred, without leaving the ATM, you must perform the following actions:
  1. If the device has given you a check, be sure to save it; if the error is displayed only on the screen, it is advisable to take a picture of it on your phone.
  2. If there was no error, but you did not receive a notification or you checked the balance - and there are no funds, you should wait 10 minutes - sometimes there are delays, after which the crediting is successful.
  3. If you are at a bank branch during its working hours, it is worth calling an employee to help you.
  4. If the branch does not work, and only the area with ATMs is active, then you need to call the phone number indicated on the device, give the ATM number, which is also indicated on the sticker on the front, and then describe the situation that has arisen and ask to register the appeal (this step is very important, so you can be sure of considering it).

If this did not help, then when the ATM took the money but did not add it to the card, you need to visit bank personally during working hours of the branch and write a statement. The term for its consideration is from 7 to approximately 10 days.

How long will it take for a refund?
Unfortunately, according to the current legislation, bank has 30 days to consider your application and there is hardly anything that will help you speed up this process, although periodic calls and visits to the bank will not be superfluous.

If you are told at the bank branch that the money will be returned within 5 days, you should not trust these words, since they have as much as 30 days to consider the application, and ordinary employees of the branch will not be able to tell you the exact time for the refund.

While it is possible that the money will return quickly, such cases are not uncommon. More precisely, money is rarely delayed for 30 days, as a rule, it is returned earlier. The Internet is full of reviews from bank clients, which say that the money "eaten by the ATM" was returned within 7 or 10 days.

What if the money was deposited to repay the loan?
Very often, the money withheld by the bank was deposited by the bank's clients for the purpose of repaying a consumer loan, credit card or mortgage. The amounts for such loans are rather big and to put the second such amount into the account, even considering that the first one will return after a while, not everyone has the opportunity. Hence, there are delays in the loan, penalties and fines from bank.

Be aware that if the crediting operation was completed by you on time, then the bank is obliged to go to a meeting with the client and recalculate the amount invoiced for payment, in other words, remove all fines and penalties from you. But this is unlikely to happen in automatic mode, you need to take the initiative and contact the bank with a statement written in free form.

If the bank agrees to recalculate due to improper operation of the ATM and the interrupted operation of crediting funds towards repayment of the loan, ask the bank employees to update the credit history in the BCH - this is in your interests.
