Warming up?

Ive seen people talking about warming up stores to first order smaller amounts not to make bank or site suspicious, but does it really work that later on you can order higher amounts and bank and site is gonna make that go trough?

Never used it and i think it only works on amazon and ebay, cant be too sure, i know for a fact you have to warm up amazon accounts for days (for refunds atleast)
Cookie build up is enough.
