The National Security Council of the United States and the administration of President Donald Trump plan to create a single 5G network within three years, inaccessible to eavesdropping from China. Writes about it Reuters.

“We want to build a network so that the Chinese cannot listen to your calls,” a source from the US presidential administration told the publication. According to him, the US Intelligence Committee is concerned about spying by Chinese technology firms, in particular Huawei and ZTE Corp, which have been under investigation since 2012. In addition, the government hopes that with its own network it can prevent Chinese providers from establishing a monopoly on the 5G market.

The interlocutor of Reuters added that the government has already abandoned the idea of encouraging the creation of many competing 5G networks by different companies and is now considering the option of deploying a single centralized network. At the moment, there is a discussion about who will lead its development - the government or a consortium of technology companies. The White House will consider a preliminary plan for a 5G network in 6-8 months.

Late last year, global cellular regulator 3GPP published the first specifications for 5G technology. Requirements include support for low frequency (600 MHz, 700 MHz), mid frequency (3.5 GHz), and high frequency (50 GHz) bands. The data acquisition speed in the 5G network must be at least 20 Gbps, the transmission speed - from 10 Gbps. For one square kilometer, the network must support a million connected devices.
