Sergey Korotkikh is accused of violating the security of the critical infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
In the Moscow region, the trial of a former employee of JSC "GosMKB "Raduga" named after A. Ya. Bereznyak", Sergey Korotkikh is taking place. Accused of improperly influencing Russia's critical information infrastructure, according to the FSB, he destroyed a terabyte of official information, which almost led to the disruption of the state defense order. According to Korotkikh, the deleted data contained only personal information and draft calculations, copies of which remained with the company.
Sergey Korotkikh joined the staff of JSC GosMKB Raduga (part of the State Corporation Tactical Missile Armament) in 2015, where he became the head of a team that calculated thermal loads on the samples of rocket equipment produced by the enterprise. He was in good standing until 2022, when it was revealed that he had traveled to Turkey and married a foreign woman without notifying the management, contrary to established security rules.
According to Korotkikh, he notified the FSB employees about changes in their marital status, but for some unknown reason they did not pass this information on to the company's management. The situation escalated after Korotkikh appealed to the prosecutor's office and the FSB with statements about violations that occurred at the enterprise. As a result, Sergey Korotkikh left Raduga together with the head of the first department of the enterprise and one of its managers.
In May 2023, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 274.1 of the Criminal Code (unlawful influence on the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation using official position, resulting in harm to it). According to investigators, when leaving Raduga, Korotkov used his personal computer without the permission of the system administrator of a closed telecommunications network to erase one terabyte of information that contained not only personal data, photos and correspondence, but also some calculations necessary for the production of rocket products, which, according to the management of Raduga, could lead to: to disrupt the state defense order.
However, the defendant noted that he could not have caused damage to the "critical infrastructure" of Raduga, since he erased information from a personal computer, and not from the enterprise's server. According to him, in addition to personal data, on the computer disk were his calculations, which are also available on the Rainbow server. Korotkikh stressed that the folder from which he deleted the information did not contain anything important, so it was called "Junk"
The court remanded Korotkikh in custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.
