The Irkutsk police received a number of reports from citizens about the theft of their funds when paying for goods in the same online store created by unknown people in the messenger.

Employees of OP No. 6 of the Inter-municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Irkutskoe" as a result of operational search activities identified two organizers of the online market and, having gone on a business trip to Pskov, detained them. They were two 21-year-old local residents.

The fraud suspects repented of their actions and explained that they placed ads on their fake trading platform for the sale of various things and items, the description of which, along with the image, was taken from the pages of well-known marketplaces. At the same time, they did not have any goods offered for purchase at a price 10 times lower than the market price.

The scammers promised to send the order to customers when they made a full payment, but when they received the money, they deliberately did not fulfill their obligations and stopped contacting them.

According to preliminary police data, the victims of the accomplices were many residents of different regions of Russia, of which more than 30 people were from Irkutsk. The amount of damage caused to all victims may exceed 10 million rubles.

According to these facts, criminal cases were initiated on the grounds of a crime under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation continues.
