The project was predicted to be a success, but the reality turned out to be completely different...
Former US President Donald Trump's cryptocurrency platform, launched on October 15, ran into difficulties right at the start of sales. Representatives of the Republican Party managed to sell only a part of the digital tokens.
The World Liberty Financial project, which Trump announced in mid-September along with his sons and entrepreneurs, offered 20 billion tokens at a price of 1.5 cents each. By Tuesday evening, however, only 3 percent of the total had been bought, about $9 million of the planned $300.
Tokens are intended to be used as a cryptocurrency and provide voting rights in the governance of the platform. Many experts attribute low sales to technical problems: the company's website went down several times on the day of launch.
World Liberty Financial offers cryptocurrency lending and borrowing services between users. Notably, during his presidency, Trump called cryptocurrencies a scam, but now his stance has changed.
Trump's unsuccessful start to the crypto platform shows that even big names and large-scale ambitions do not always guarantee success in the world of digital assets, where technical glitches can undermine the credibility of a project from the start.
