The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office approved and sent to the court an indictment against three members of an organized group on the facts of unauthorized interference in the operation of an electronic communication system, which led to information leakage, as well as unauthorized sale of information with restricted access (Part 5 of Article 361, Part 3 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 361, Part 2 of Article 361-2, Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in April last year, a 32-year-old resident of the Kirovohrad region developed a scheme to "earn money" by hacking the accounts of users of social networks, in particular Instagram. To his plan, he attracted other performers - a 33-year-old vinnichanin and a 29-year-old resident of the Kiev region. Communication between them, distribution of responsibilities and discussion of the subtleties of work took place online.

Using special software, the attackers gained access to user accounts. The defendants sold the hacked accounts on the darknet, mainly to other fraudulent groups that used them in their illegal activities.

During the searches conducted at the places of residence and registration of businessmen, computer equipment, mobile phones with evidence of illegal activities, as well as cash were found and seized.

The accused will be tried in the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv. Men face up to fifteen years in prison for their crimes, with the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SB GUNP in the Kharkiv region with the operational support of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
