Cybercriminals targeting the American market are actively using videos with deepfakes of stars on YouTube. Journalists from 404 Media covered one such campaign, aimed at users of Medicare and state Medicaid programs.

The publication's informant provided a playlist of 1,600 videos on YouTube that have been viewed more than 195 million times. They feature images of many celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Steve Harvey, Ice Cube, Andrew Tate, Oprah Winfrey and others. Sometimes the artificial intelligence-generated voice is superimposed on the real video of the stars, in other cases everything in the frame is faked.

As a rule, deepfakes offer to receive this or that support, discounts, deductions, and even just money under Medicare and Medicaid. To do this, you just need to go to the website and leave card data on it or make a transfer, etc.

“The ad itself, the level of its prevalence, and the fact that it is still present on YouTube, despite the outrage of YouTube users and celebrities themselves, demonstrate that either the site is unable to recognize AI-generated content, or Google itself is not even trying to protect users,” - the material says.

It is worth noting that similar campaigns were also discovered by journalists on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. There, scammers speak in the voices of Cardi B, Tom Hanks, Elon Musk, Rishi Sunak and even Joe Biden.
