Russian citizen, who is accused of administering a famous hacker forum, was deported from the United States to his homeland. We are talking about 31-year-old Alexei Burkov, who has already received nine years in prison for fraud with bank cards. In general, the extradition of Burkov to American law enforcement officers looks strange, but, one way or another, the Russian police met the cybercriminal at the Moscow airport this week.

Burkov was extradited for the same purpose: in his homeland he will be charged with cybercrimes. As stated by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in a press release, Burkov is accused of manufacturing and selling counterfeit bank cards, as well as trading in confidential data of clients of credit institutions. Interestingly, the suspect first came to the attention of US law enforcement agencies in 2013. Then the police discovered his key role in the work of a large cybercrime forum. Under the pseudonym “k0pa,” Burkov managed the CardPlanet platform, which served as an online market for those wishing to sell or buy stolen bank cards.

In addition, k0pa participated in the development of the closed DirectConnection community, where attackers planned their future operations. Between 2008 and 2013, carders managed to sell more than 150 thousand cards using the CardPlanet forum. All this activity led to Burkov being detained in 2015 in Israel. Last June, we wrote that the famous cybercriminal received nine years in prison in the United States.
