Security services have exposed in Kharkov a member of the Russian hacker group “People's Cyber Army of the Russian Federation,” which is controlled by the FSB.
The attacker corrected enemy fire in the city and prepared cyber attacks on the websites of Ukrainian authorities.
At the direction of the defendant, the occupiers carried out two missile attacks on the civilian infrastructure of the regional center. The local hospital was among the damaged facilities.
He also scouted out Defense Force bases in the region. First of all, he was interested in possible combat positions of artillery and air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In addition, the hacker carried out an assignment from the FSB to prepare a series of DDoS attacks on the websites of state-owned enterprises and Ukrainian authorities.
As a result of counter-sabotage measures, SBU officers detained the attacker.
According to the investigation, the person involved is a local resident, an IT specialist, whom the FSB recruited for cooperation through a specialized Telegram channel of hacker communities.
To collect intelligence about the deployment of the Defense Forces, the defendant walked around the area and secretly recorded objects where, according to his “version,” Ukrainian defenders could be located.
He sent the information received to the FSB through a popular messenger in the form of screenshots of electronic maps with the coordinates of potential targets.
During a search in the detainee's house, 3 mobile phones, a laptop and flash drives were seized, which he used in subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation.
Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons, weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The attacker is now in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
Complex measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Kharkov region under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office.
