Hacker "Emil Kyulev", who hacked databases of state institutions, banks and legal entities, was caught
The Sofia prosecutor's office has detained for up to 72 hours and brought in as a defendant a hacker who introduced himself online under the pseudonym " Emil Kyulev — - a former banker and one of the underground figures after the fall of the communist regime.
21-year-old Teodor obtained unauthorized access to the information systems of dozens of government agencies, commercial banks, insurance companies and other legal entities, and also copied and used data from information databases, the prosecutor's office said. The theft of information occurred between March 2020 and January 2024.
The last time "Emil Kyulev" appeared in the public domain in July last year, reporting that he had hacked the data of Lev Ins. He then boasted that he had dirt on the company's founder, Alexey Petrov, who was killed a month later.

In early 2022, an XSS user with the nickname Kyulev tried to sell a dump to Sirma Holding's ICS, which is used by almost all insurance brokers in Bulgaria. For the data set, he requested 15 thousand euros, during a dialogue with other users, confirming that he was Emil Kyulev, and also leaving in the subject the alleged phone numbers of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy of Bulgaria.
