A 60-year-old woman told the duty department of the Russian Interior Ministry that fraudsters stole 3 million rubles from her. The incident occurred in Nakhodka.

The victim's phone received a message from a foreign number. Someone introduced himself as her cousin and asked to receive a package of money from him. The woman believed that her real relative, she explained, actually often goes abroad.

Soon, new messages were received from the same number. In them, the "brother" asked to pay for the parcel and convinced the woman that everything was in order: they say, as soon as the delivery arrives, she will be able to return the money. The pensioner did not suspect anything here, because she was sure that she was communicating with her relative. She sold the car, took out loans from several banks and did everything that the attackers demanded.

Suspicions appeared after the payment. The heroine of the story turned to the transport company and asked to check the location of the parcel by track number. She was informed that such a track does not exist. Then the applicant called her brother and found out that he had not sent any cargo.

The woman filed a police report. The investigator opened a criminal case under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud committed on a particularly large scale". The maximum sanction of the article is up to ten years ' imprisonment.

Police officers ask to be especially careful: scammers come up with more and more criminal schemes. If friends and relatives ask you to transfer money via social media or SMS, first call them and find out what happened. Do not perform any operations with your cards at the request of unknown persons. Make online purchases only on verified sites, and transfer payment after receiving the product.
