With the arrest of Durov, the French authorities have crossed the permissible boundaries, said the founder of the video hosting Rumble on the social network X.

Migration from the EU
The founder of the video hosting Rumble, Chris Pawlowski, announced that he had left the EU in connection with the news of the arrest of Pavel Durov. This was reported at the end of August 2024 by RIA Novosti.

Rumble is a Canadian video hosting service that resembles YouTube except for a few nuances. Hotsing is focused on promoting user-generated content on the Internet and video materials are connected to monetization instantly after verification, which usually takes from 10 to 30 minutes. Rumble has three types of monetization, and each type of monetization is connected separately to each video, i.e. the user can choose the most suitable monetization for each video.

"France threatened Rumble, and now they have crossed the red line by arresting Telegram CEO Pavel Durov," he wrote. According to the entrepreneur, he himself "just left" Europe. Rumble video hosting will fight for "freedom of expression," Pawlowski stressed.

If in the vastness of the former USSR, video hosting is not particularly popular, but in its homeland in Canada, it is used very often and is a tough competitor to YouTube. Rumble is actively gaining popularity in the US states that border Canada, usually at the expense of immigrant families from Canada. At the time of the U.S. presidential race, Donald Trump created a channel on Rumble for states that border Canada, confirming that the northern states have a very large number of video hosting users.

U.S. senators and other Republicans and conservatives have been vocal in criticizing YouTube for censoring free speech. The fact is that YouTube very often blocks videos and comments of well-known US politicians, including former US President Donald Trump, and in protest, these people create accounts in Rumble and urge the audience to change YouTube to Rumble. The IT platform is quite noticeable and is gradually gaining popularity in the United States, where 333.3 million people live (Canada's population is 38.93 million). No one prohibits the development of Rumble in other countries, especially those that officially use English. In addition, the EU, the US, Canada, Australia, and Russia have recently taken a negative view of Google's YouTube monopoly, and have periodically fined the service significant sums of money for the monopoly or poor compliance with local laws.

Durov's
detention Telegram founder Pavel Durov was detained on the evening of August 24, 2024 at Paris' Le Bourget airport. He is suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, terrorism, crimes against children and fraud, due to the fact that he did not cooperate with the French authorities. After the detention of Durov, a number of users of the social network X spoke out on this matter. For example, entrepreneur Elon Musk suggested that by 2030 people in Europe will be "executed" for "liking a meme".

"Macron has stooped to the level of hostage-taking as a means of gaining access to private communications," said Edward Snowden, a former employee of the US National Security Agency (NSA)ward Snowden).

Against the backdrop of Durov's detention, the post was also published by the President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele. "You will not be subject to seizure, censorship or confiscation of your assets for exercising your right to free speech," he wrote, stressing that El Salvador is "the safest country in the Western Hemisphere."

Cooperation with the authorities
The French authorities and the opposition are putting pressure on Internet services under the auspices of "these companies need to do more to fight terrorists." France will seek to toughen the position of the leading English-speaking countries on Internet control.

According to Radio France Internationale, modern digital technologies are used not only for the benefit of people, they are increasingly used by criminals and terrorists alike. To successfully confront terrorists, you need help from companies that produce digital equipment and social networks. Since the main companies and social networks are based in the United States, the French authorities intend to propose a common position to the allies in the Five Eyes group (this group includes the intelligence services of Australia, Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand and the United States).

Companies offering messenger and social media services should, if necessary, provide intelligence agencies with the keys to encrypt Internet traffic between persons who are reasonably suspected of involvement in terrorist activities. "Maintaining the confidentiality of a terrorist's information can never be more important than the safety of the public," the Australian Prime Minister stressed. At the same time, he hastened to clarify that he does not call on companies to introduce backdoor technology into their products. The Australian prime minister believes that Australia is not immune to the global impact of Middle Eastern conflicts on stability in the country - this is evidenced by the emergence of influential jihadists of Australian origin who post propaganda videos on their YouTube channels, which are watched by several thousand subscribers daily.
