In the Indian state of Odisha, police detained a group of foreigners who are now accused of swindling cryptocurrencies out of more than $1.8 million.

Cambodian nationals were working in Rourkela city of Odisha throughout 2023. Foreigners have created the India SEBI mobile application, using it to attract cryptocurrency investments from investors in India and abroad. Investors were promised high profits in a short period of time.

Six members of the group were taken into custody: Ujjawal Utkarsh, considered the organizer, his associates Nabin Rao, Sanjib Jain, Pankaj Rao, and Md Nassiruddin. The bank accounts of those accused of fraud were blocked and SIM cards were confiscated.

An investigation is underway, Odisha Police is calling on all victims to come forward with complaints from the creators of India SEBI.
