Scammers placed ads for the sale of cheap cars on one of the sites of free ads for a year.

In the Chernihiv region, a group of malefactors who organized the sale of non-existent cars via the Internet was exposed. Scammers deceived more than twenty citizens from different regions of Ukraine in the amount of more than 800 thousand hryvnias. This was reported by the National Police.

The police identified all those involved in the crimes. They were residents of Pryluk aged from 25 to 30 years.

"Potential clients were persuaded by the defendants to make mandatory prepayment. After receiving money on bank cards, fraudsters stopped contacting and blocked customers. The total income of suspects from criminal activities exceeded 800 thousand hryvnias, " the report says.

During the authorized searches, law enforcement officers seized bank and SIM cards, smartphones, laptops. In addition, other material evidence of the involvement of members of the group in joint criminal activities was seized.

Investigators are investigating criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Its maximum sanction provides for imprisonment for up to 5 years.
