According to rumors, BreachForums will resume its activities at the end of June.

According to the latest rumors, the BreachForums forum, closed in March, is going to resume its activities under the leadership of the well-known hacker group ShinyHunters.

This was reported by the VX-Underground resource, which specializes in storing and distributing malware. The source of this information was not disclosed, but vx-underground has told its more than 200,000 subscribers that "BreachForums will resume operations later this month."

ShinyHunters is a hacker group that specializes in stealing and selling user data from various websites and services. The group first came to attention in April 2020 and has since claimed responsibility for a number of high-profile data breaches, including Tokopedia, Wattpad, Pixlr, Bonobos, BigBasket, Mathway, Unacademy, MeetMindful, Microsoft's GitHub account, etc.

The group attacks developer sites and repositories in order to steal credentials or API keys for accessing cloud services of target companies. Using API keys, cybercriminals gain access to corporate databases and steal information for further sale or free publication on hacker forums.

One of the members of the ShinyHunters group - a 21 - year-old student from France-was arrested by the FBI in January 2021 and extradited to the United States , where he was charged with 14 cybercrime charges and up to 116 years in prison for participating in the data leak of more than 200 million users.

BreachForums (Breached) is a cybercrime forum that was active from 2022 to 2023 . The site operated as an alternative and successor to RaidForums, which was closed in 2022 . Breached allowed users to discuss various hacking topics and distribute data leaks, pornography, hacking tools, and other services.

After the closure of Raidforums, users flocked to a new forum called Breached (BreachForums), but it also closed in March 2023 after the founder and owner of the Pompompurin forum was arrested by the FBI, and another administrator became concerned that law enforcement agencies had access to their servers, and disabled the forum itself.

Earlier in May, a forum called Exposed was launched to fill the void left by Breached's closure. Since competition in this niche is now almost nonexistent, Exposed quickly became popular. One of the Exposed administrators, under the nickname "Impotent", leaked the database of RaidForums participants, providing a huge amount of information to other cybercriminals, researchers and, possibly, law enforcement agencies.

Darknet forum BreachForums is back and gaining new subscribers

ShinyHunters hackers have taken responsibility for recovering a major cybercriminal haunt.

As of June 14, the new BreachForums has more than 1,500 members, and the site is visited daily by hundreds of additional visitors. Although the new site lasted only a week, for comparison, the old BreachForums had more than 340,000 members at the time of closure.

To attract users, the new site even offers to restore the rating earned by former members (displayed on profile pages), before checking by current administrators.

It is claimed that the new site was revived by the ShinyHunters hacker group. And it seems that the new owners were working with the former chief administrator of BreachForum, Baphomet, the deputy administrator of Pompompurin, who was arrested. It was Baphomet who struggled to keep the BreachForums site afloat after the founder and owner of the Pompompurin forum was arrested by the FBI, then Baphomet became concerned that law enforcement agencies had access to their servers and shut down the forum on his own.

The new BreachForums site looks identical to the old one

In early June, the VX-Underground resource, which specializes in storing and distributing malware, reported that the BreachForums forum, which was closed in March, is going to resume its activities under the leadership of the well-known hacker group ShinyHunters.

Revived BreachForums suffered a user data leak
Less than a week later, competitors eliminated the popular cybercriminal forum.

The recently revived darknet forum BreachForums has been hacked. A database containing the personal information of 4,700 BreachForums users was published on competing cybercrime platforms.

A team of Cybernews researchers confirmed that the leak is valid and contains data about users who registered on the resurrected BreachForums.

The BreachForums website was shut down in March of this year after the arrest of its founder Conor Brian Fitzpatrick (known under the pseudonym Pompompurin). However, last week it was reported that the site was revived with the help of Fitzpatrick's former deputy, known as Baphomet.

Shortly after the launch of the new site, BreachForums was hacked and its user database was made publicly available. The original BreachForums domain now displays a message that the forum will never return, and any site that mimics BreachForums should be used with caution.

After the closure of BreachForums, many new sites appeared on the cybercrime market, trying to take its place. This has caused concern in the cybercrime community, as some websites were created by the authorities in order to deceive criminals and reveal their identities.
