The escalation of the conflict has led to an increase in the value of personal data on the dark web.

Specialists of the information security company ZeroFOX report that on the hacker forum RAMP, a user under the pseudonym "blackfield" put up for sale a database containing personal data, photos and links to social networks of members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Security Service (Shabak).

The hacker estimated the cost of the data package at $15,000, and said that he would use the forum's escrow account to make a secure transaction. An escrow account service is the execution of transactions through a third party to ensure that certain conditions are met.

According to ZeroFOX, the information sold will be of interest to geopolitically targeted parties. Selling the stolen data, rather than distributing it for free, indicates that blackfield wants to benefit financially, rather than pursue ideological goals. In addition, since the beginning of the conflict in Israel, the value of data has increased significantly. Researchers note that the cost of data volume is higher than the average.

Experts suggest that the data was obtained by hacking profiles in social networks using Credential stuffing. The cybercriminal may have had additional information that allowed him to identify members of the IDF and Shin Bet.

ZeroFOX researchers have concluded that blackfield is an Initial Access Broker (IAB). It is noted that one of the cybercriminals under the nickname "achillesec", which is probably associated with ransomware, has already shown interest in the data being sold.
