84% of Russians prefer to remain anonymous on the Internet, and not only because of the risk of becoming victims of cybercriminals. Many users do not want their relatives, friends, work colleagues, bosses or government agencies to know about their activity on the Internet. This was announced in a report based on the results of a study by Kaspersky Lab specialists with the participation of the Toluna service.

The survey was conducted from November 2018 to January 2019. In the course of the study, 1,014 Russians were interviewed. More than half of them (54%) admitted that they regularly delete their browser history, 24% use fictitious names when registering, 23% stick the camera on their computer, 22% prefer to communicate via messengers with encryption support, and 12% refuse Google in favor of private search engines.

Despite this, 68% of respondents understand that in the modern world it is impossible to remain completely anonymous. 74% of respondents are interested in ways to maintain privacy on the Internet, but are not ready to pay money for it. Only 17% of Russians agree to take paid courses and trainings to improve the skills of maintaining anonymity.

Although respondents are interested in ways to maintain privacy, almost 40% do not put passwords on their devices, and 64% do not check or change privacy settings on devices, applications and services.
