They are used by absolutely everyone... Have you ever wondered how and where Growers hide, how much they earn, and most importantly - how long they live? Dealers, athletes and illegal substances.

Perhaps, some of you have shady people in your circle of friends, connected with the world of light illegal substances. And sometimes you can hear the word "Grower" from them. Some of them are familiar with such a Grower, and some even want to become the same. In Russia and the CIS countries, this concept is still exotic, but it is gradually gaining popularity in certain circles and even becoming something of a strange subculture. In this topic, you will learn who Growers are, who becomes one, what dangers await such people and, finally, how long they live.

Listen carefully, it will be interesting. So, Grower from the word "Grow" - one who grows. For those who use marijuana, this activity seems very attractive.

That is, you grow for yourself, get the desired effect, and sell the surplus. You are like a mini-farmer. Moreover, such an activity may seem almost legal. The paradox is that almost everywhere, including the strange CIS, you can legally buy and sell cannabis seeds. This creates the illusion that a person can simply buy seeds and go plant them somewhere. Here is the first trap. Because growing cannabis is already a crime, illegal production of narcotics.

The police sometimes use the topic of seeds. They simply monitor such buyers and catch them when their first crop has grown. However, seeds can be purchased in different ways. A grower can ask relatives or trusted friends to buy them in another city and simply bring them to him personally. But any conspiracy may turn out to be meaningless if such a hemp farmer decides to do this in his city apartment.

On the one hand, such an idea may seem tempting - just grow on your balcony or even in the kitchen, like some granny who filled all the windowsills with her flowerpots. But cannabis often has a characteristic smell. Naturally, a lot depends on the variety, and abundant watering can also reduce the smell. But if the neighbors are familiar with this plant, they will quickly figure out the failed Grower. Actually, that is why Growers are almost always grown outside the city, in rural areas.

The ideal option is a neighboring abandoned plot, the unharvested crop from which is unlikely to be attached to the case. But one way or another, a meeting with law enforcement is an inevitable part of the Grower's life. And a meeting with the police is not the same as a meeting with justice. Growers are a natural food source for dirty cops. An attempt to earn a little money on surplus or just grow some cannabis for yourself can end in a very unpleasant meeting with law enforcement.

Moreover, meeting with the police is not the most dangerous thing that awaits such a mini-farmer on his life path. Growers are ideal prey for any bandits, let's call them by such a childish word. And there are many scenarios here. Growers can simply be robbed, understanding that such a person will not go to the police. And he will not get off with the loss of his freshly harvested crop. Most likely, Grower will have all more or less valuable movable property stolen. Of course, such robberies can be serial, because a person who is afraid of the police remains an ideal victim.

And not only robbers. A worse option. Grower can be turned into a slave-serf who will grow crops for, again, bandits. These can be, for example, ordinary gopniks who will want Grower to share with them. Ordinary criminal punks have a whole ideology for this. Grower will quickly be told that he is a drug dealer who profits from the boys.

Accordingly, in order not to be a drug dealer, he must share with them and give to the common fund. As a result, they will simply pay him by not beating him up. And, of course, the gopniks will probably allow him to keep some minimum of cannabis. The risks are especially high for a village Grower who is unable to get out of such a dangerous location for some reason - lack of stable work, probation, or simply lack of money to move.

In the same way, such a Grower can end up in slavery to drug dealers. In such a situation, Grower has no chance of being left alone, because he will be considered part of their earning system. In the end, the worst case scenario is that real drug dealers may think that Grower is their competitor, and this is a pretty tough business, and it is not necessary that Grower will directly start selling something. After all, the rumor that some character is growing cannabis in his yard will spread very quickly and will outpace any commercial success of Grower.

A burnt house, broken bones, cut off fingers - this is not the whole spectrum of violence that you can run into, simply growing weed. And these are not some horror stories, thematic channels are full of videos with reprisals against competitors. Sometimes it is not even clear why a person is being beaten - is he a potential competitor or just a stasher who robbed his employer. If anything, such violence is engaged in by athletes, about Therefore, I have a separate video in the rubric "How long do they live?" And it has gained almost a million views.

If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to watch it when you finish watching this material. So, given the close ties between the drug business and the police, Grower has little chance of a happy ending. Having survived the attack, he can only escape to another city or another country. By the way, in addition to bandits, there are superheroes in the world. Well, at least they consider themselves to be so. We are talking about drug fighters. There are a huge number of such movements on the Internet, and in every city there are also lone heroes.

All these people use the same methods as athletes hired by drug dealers through the Darknet, only they act as if out of noble motives. Drug fighters attack ordinary stash men and drug addicts themselves. Well, and Grower for them is a whole drug dealer with a plantation, and he will be very lucky if he gets off with just a beating or, for example, burned real estate. Moreover, this is the situation when Grower will not even risk calling neighbors to help put out the fire.

Neighbors generally occupy a worthy place in the list of dangers that await Grower on his life path. And here everything is predictable. Imagine your neighbor starts growing cannabis on his plot or even in his city apartment, bringing his Rastafarian friends, who often behave in a specifically unpleasant way, and arranging business meetings with other Growers. There is little pleasant. Therefore, neighbors are one of the main enemies of cannabis farmers. Everything works in a complex here, and a conflict with neighbors will lead to any other ending.

Police, bandits, drug fighters, and so on. Of course, Growers themselves often consider their neighbors to be dark non-essential orcs who have not grown up to understand how important legalization is and how harmless Ethiopian weed is. If anything, be sure to leave your opinion on this matter in the comments. In fairness, it should be said that ordinary people often do not see the difference between an ordinary drug dealer and a Grower. Especially when it comes to the CIS countries. And it is worth dwelling on these differences. The point is that a drug manufacturer grows drugs on a commercial scale, for sale at prices that are profitable for him.

That is, a drug dealer is a systematic sales, a well-coordinated and effective business system, built, among other things, on connections with the police. And a Grower is random sales and random earnings. A Grower grows for himself, but sometimes can sell the surplus. Here the paradox is that the Grower's cost price of drugs can be colossal compared to real drug plantations.

That is, a Grower, as a rule, has some kind of income, like working in an office or somewhere at a technical school, and in his free time he invests money in growing cannabis. Exactly invests. And, in fact, this is typical for the CIS countries and regions with a temperate climate in general. The fact is that cannabis needs temperatures of at least plus eight for sowing, and for lighting, plus twenty-five and higher are generally needed. Naturally, an ordinary Grower will most likely plant seeds in open ground.

In this case, the growth cycle of cannabis from sowing to harvest will be approximately 8-10 weeks, that is, at least two months. Of course, the duration of the cycle may vary depending on the variety of cannabis, but one way or another, it all comes down to the fact that in Russia, for example, you can only grow one crop - in the summer, and only in the southern regions. That is, trivially, as they say, the climate is not right.

And here the question arises - how do drug dealers get around the climate problem? The answer is very simple - greenhouses, plus any other technologies that ordinary farmers use to get a winter harvest, for example, tomatoes. The cycle of greenhouse cannabis is 4-8 weeks, so 10 harvests per year is a very real result for drug dealers who have their own greenhouse plantation. One harvest versus 10 harvests. This proportion perfectly describes the difference between a simple drug addict and a simple drug lord.

Naturally, there are Growers who try to grow crops in greenhouses. The most persistent ones even build greenhouses specifically for cannabis. But it is precisely the appearance of your own greenhouse that greatly accelerates the appearance of the four horsemen of the Grower apocalypse - the police, bandits, drug fighters and neighbors. In fact, the same thing will happen as if the Grower began to grow crops in his apartment. In general, you can't fool nature. In addition, drug dealers often grow cannabis in some areas and sell it in others.

That is, it looks like the same standard farming with tomatoes. It's the same here, only with hemp. It's grown somewhere in Kuban or the Caucasus, and then delivered, for example, to St. Petersburg or Moscow. By the way, there are some like that among the Growers. These people specifically buy dachas in the southern regions to collect two harvests of hemp there. Naturally, this further increases the time and money spent traveling a thousand kilometers, and increases all possible risks, because such a Grower becomes much more noticeable.

Interestingly, this idea was popular among Soviet drug addicts. The so-called Dostoevskys grew hemp and poppy in the southern regions, and not necessarily on their dachas, often abandoned plots were used. From there, having collected another harvest, they delivered it to the northern megalopolises. Actually, Dostoevsky is a Soviet prototype of modern Growers. They grew drugs for themselves and their buddies, and sold the surplus to trusted clients.

They also took risks, but the cops of those years did not hunt them, because the problem of drug addiction in the USSR was more or less hushed up, and the drug business in the modern sense did not exist then. Therefore, Growers of the Soviet era could calmly enjoy drugs, or degrade. Here it already depends on your opinion and attitude to soft substances. But even if now there was no risk of running into athletes, cops or easily getting a really long sentence, you still should not cosplay such a lifestyle.

It is better to never use it at all and especially do not try to make money on it, find yourself a normal occupation. The main thing is to develop yourself and your skills. By the way, Growers are very proud that they do not grow for money.

Of course, among this category of people, there is an opinion that they were simply unlucky to be born in the CIS. Often they are sure that in the West everyone treats such activities loyally or at least tolerantly. But the reality is that even in countries where cannabis is fully or partially legalized, Growers easily violate the laws with their actions. It's very simple, legalization itself does not imply permissiveness.

For example, cannabis is partially legalized in 22 US states and the District of Columbia. But almost everywhere there is a rule that no more than six bushes can be legally grown, and this is not the smallest volume among those permitted. For comparison, in the Netherlands, the most liberal country in this regard in the European Union, no more than five cannabis bushes are allowed to be grown, in Cyprus no more than three bushes, and in Belgium no more than one bush per adult family member, and these are countries where cannabis is partially legalized.

Plus, in some countries, for example, in Germany and Croatia, you can grow medical varieties of cannabis for medical purposes. By the way, for many it is a surprise that cannabis is used for medical purposes, so when they say "medical marijuana", it is not some kind of joke, slang or play on words. For many seriously ill people, this is one of the few options in everyday life to get rid of pain. But sometimes Russian Growers use this excuse, trying to squeeze a tear of sympathy out of the police.

When they are caught, they say that they are being treated with dachshunds or treating some seriously ill relatives. This is naive. But such drugs based on this plant are really used to treat many diseases - multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, psychosis, Tourette syndrome and even the side effects of chemotherapy. But we are talking specifically about medical varieties. They are also prohibited in most countries of the world, but the legalization of medical marijuana is gaining momentum.

Since 2019, even the WHO itself has been promoting this topic. By the way, if we talk about the complete legalization of cannabis, this has happened in only two countries on the planet - Canada and Uruguay. And that's it, it's worth starting with Uruguay. This is a country with a population of 3 million people, and cannabis is sold there only in 28 licensed pharmacies. To buy marijuana in such a pharmacy, you need to register in a special registry, which includes tens of thousands of Uruguayans.

And in Canada, the rules vary greatly depending on the province. One way or another, cannabis is sold only by businesses that have a special permit. Although Canada is considered almost a paradise among drug lovers, this phenomenon is fought at the systemic level. Growers are a black market that greatly interferes with both official businesses and the authorities. In 2019, large-scale independent studies were conducted there, which showed that 86% of cannabis in Canada is sold on the black market.

Of course, these are mostly products of large drug plantations, not Growers. But the Growers themselves look like just another type of illegal competitor in the eyes of the business. That's why the Canadian cannabis business is lobbying to fight them. And there's room for creativity in this industry. In the spring of 2023, the legal cannabis business of Nevada, where cannabis is almost completely legal, approached the state authorities with an idea for a bill.

The point is that people who know about illegal hemp farmers should immediately report them to the authorities. It would seem like nothing new, but it is proposed that informers receive a reward of 15 to 30% of the fine that the illegal will have to pay. With a maximum fine of a million dollars, the informer has a chance to get 300 thousand.

Of course, this is specifically aimed more against large illegal planters who harvest tons of crops. But the draft amendments to the law contain a bunch of other nice perks for vigilant citizens. If a person keeps more than 28 grams of marijuana, the informer has a chance to get up to 180 dollars, and for a tip on an ordinary Grower you can get a reward of up to 60 thousand dollars.

Naturally, Growers believe that such a fight is simply a lobby of large manufacturers who want to get rid of small competitors. But on the other hand, the same business laws work here as in any other industry, because in any industry there is a competitive struggle. Moreover, the system is not always beneficial to large businesses. An example is the Netherlands. There, cannabis is not completely legal, but it is not prohibited either. Therefore, so-called coffee shops are common, where a buyer over 18 years old can buy up to 5 grams of marijuana.

With the ban on industrial cannabis production, the authorities hardly prosecute growers who grow cannabis right in their apartments. That's why coffee shops are supported by growers who sell their surplus cannabis. You might think that the Netherlands is a paradise for growers. But, of course, it's not. In the Netherlands, landlords almost always evict such tenants, the police have the right to confiscate their equipment, and banks have the right to terminate mortgage agreements if they find out that the client is growing cannabis.

Of course, weed lovers dream of complete legalization there. But any government fights against illegal business. Even illegal sales of tomatoes are not welcomed anywhere in the world, an underground farmer does not pay taxes, and the quality standards of his products are impossible to control. However, unlike those who grow tomatoes, cannabis growers consider themselves a separate movement, a subculture. They consider themselves a cool community and unite both on the Internet and in real life.

Now, how long do Growers live? Considering that their life is full of risks of being robbed, tortured, or dying from another beating, and that's not counting the chance of getting a huge prison sentence for drug production, we can say that they don't live long. Of course, there are always exceptions, but we are talking about something that can happen with a high probability. However, this applies specifically to the CIS and other countries with strict laws against drug trafficking.

In countries where marijuana is decriminalized, Growers live like ordinary citizens. Of course, they also have their risks, but usually we are talking about fines, confiscations, and other everyday troubles. In any case, this is an industry that is best stayed away from. And to keep stupid thoughts out of your head, develop yourself. This can change your life and your future, I hope you find something interesting with a decent salary.
