The Supreme Court of the Republic of Mordovia agreed with the arguments of the state prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of the republic on the guilt of the 38-year-old former police officer in committing crimes under hch. 3, 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe).

The court found that in July 2022, the defendant, while holding the position of head of the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Mordovia, for committing illegal actions related to the provision of official information, received part of a bribe in the form of digital currency bitcoin worth 68 thousand rubles. from the amount of a bribe required by him in the amount of 2 bitcoins worth more than 2.5 million rubles. by transferring the digital currency to the digital (crypto) wallet specified by the defendant.

The criminal case was investigated by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Mordovia.

Taking into account the position of the prosecutor's office, the court sentenced the guilty person to 12 years of imprisonment with serving the sentence in a strict regime penal colony, with a fine of 12.8 million rubles, with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the public service in law enforcement agencies related to the exercise of the functions of a government representative, for a period of 10 years, with deprivation of the special rank of "police lieutenant colonel".
