The update is especially relevant for users who have not yet upgraded to FreeBSD 14.

On March 5, a new version of the FreeBSD 13.3 operating system was introduced, which is the latest incremental update for the stable BSD 13 series platform. The update will be especially relevant for users who have not yet upgraded to the new FreeBSD 14 series.

One of the key features of FreeBSD 13.3 is the default activation of the powerd power management daemon on the ARM64 Raspberry Pi image. In addition, the LLVM objdump utility has been added to the system, and LLVM / Clang version 17.0.6 is used as a compiler.

Much attention is paid to WiFi support: the Intel IWLWIFI driver for FreeBSD has been updated to support wireless chipsets up to the BE200 series, and the Realtek RTW88 WiFi driver has also been updated. In addition, stability fixes have been made for wireless drivers. The update uses OpenZFS 2.1.14 to support the ZFS file system, and adds support for the Google Virtual Network interface via the GVE driver.

Improvements to WiFi drivers will be especially significant for users who install FreeBSD on desktops and laptops. All other changes are evolutionary improvements to the FreeBSD 13 series.
