Companies launch joint training programs at the Central University.

Positive Technologies and Tinkoff announced the launch of joint educational programs to train specialists in the field of cybersecurity. The main goal of the project is to fill the acute shortage of personnel in the field of information security, existing in the Russian business against the background of a rapidly growing number of cyber threats. The training will take place at the Central University, the first STEM university in Russia. It is planned to involve experts from other technology companies in the programs, so that students get the widest possible range of practical skills.

Positive Technologies specializes in creating technologies that can effectively detect cyber attacks before an organization is irreparably damaged. Tinkoff is an online financial ecosystem with millions of customers and has extensive experience in protecting critical infrastructure. The joint educational initiative combines the long-term expertise of both companies in the field of effective counteraction to hacker attacks and is based primarily on the practical experience of experts from the information security, fintech and IT industries. In addition, this year the companies plan to open a master's program in information security.

According to Denis Baranov, CEO of Positive Technologies, cybersecurity has transformed into one of the most attractive technology industries in the country in recent years. On the one hand, there is a strong demand for providing real results in the form of cyber security. On the other hand, domestic technologies have reached a new level of development that allows us to ensure these results. As a result, there is a high demand for specialists, who are currently not enough in the industry. According to him, the future of not only cybersecurity, but also the entire IT industry depends on those who come to it now, and they have a unique opportunity to influence its development.

Stanislav Bliznyuk, Chairman of the Management Board of Tinkoff, noted that they have more than 40 million customers, and the security of their finances is a basic need. In his opinion, the involvement of business in IT education makes it possible to update training taking into account the rapidly changing market and new challenges. This is the mission of the Central University - training of qualified specialists who can solve real business problems. Educational cooperation between Tinkoff and Positive Technologies on the basis of the university should help to increase the number of such personnel in the field of information security, close the personnel gap and make the systems of the future more cyber-resistant.

The first in a series of educational programs will be a course on training SOC specialists. Innostage, a company that creates services and solutions in the field of digital security, has joined the development and implementation of the program.

According to the rector of the Central University Evgeny Ivashkevich, the shortage of personnel in the field of cybersecurity is at least 50 thousand people. At the same time, existing educational programs on information security are more focused on the study of fundamental disciplines and the formation of a theoretical base, rather than on the development of practical skills. This slows down the introduction of new trained personnel to the market. The goal of the Central University is to fill the shortage of personnel for the entire IT industry, including cybersecurity. According to him, they plan to achieve this result through practice-oriented training and combining the experience of experts in this field – Positive Technologies, Tinkoff and Innostage.

The educational program is aimed at students of the latest IT and information security courses who have completed internships or have initial professional experience. The course will also be useful for first-line SOC analysts who want to improve their skills in threat analysis and search. The program starts on February 16 and is designed for 6 months, the application must be submitted before February 10. Students will complete five stages::
  1. bootcamps: getting to know attacks in practice;
  2. dive into the specifics of the work of a cybersecurity specialist, build a methodological and process base;
  3. learning hacker techniques: students will take on the role of attackers and understand how to attack;
  4. study of modern security methods;
  5. protection of a final project that involves an attack on an IT system and its investigation.

Graduates of the program will receive a diploma of professional retraining from the Central University and the opportunity to apply for vacancies in the largest companies in Russia. More information about the program can be found on the website.
