Protecting your personal data is becoming increasingly difficult.

In Rostov-on-Don and Sochi there were detentions of persons suspected of stealing a database with personal information of employees of one of the leading IT companies. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this data was put up for sale through the darknet. The Moscow Office of the Investigative Committee reports on the detention of three men born in 1987, 1989 and 1999, accused of illegally obtaining and disclosing trade secrets.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the alleged violators copied more than 600 thousand records from the company's database. The version of the investigation indicates that until November 14, 2023, the suspects, while on the territory of the Rostov region, conspired for the purpose of personal enrichment. They not only seized the trade secret, but also tried to sell it by placing an ad on the Internet.

During the investigation, searches were conducted in Moscow, the Rostov Region and the Krasnodar Territory. Computers, external storage media, mobile phones, SIM cards and other items relevant to the case were seized from the defendants. The detention was carried out by employees of specialized departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including those dealing with the illegal use of information technologies.

A criminal case has been opened in this case under articles on illegal access to computer information and illegal receipt of trade secrets. The accused remain at large on their own recognizance and due behavior.
