Not many people know that deleted files using standard Windows tools can be easily restored with special programs, since the system only marks the file as deleted, without touching its contents on the disk. For this very reason, there are narrowly targeted utilities that wipe data so that it cannot be restored.
The Eraser program is just one of those. Its functionality allows you to permanently overwrite files and folders with subfolders of your choice, handle unused disk space, and automatically clear the paging file.
The program has six methods of stripping, you can set from one to thirty-six passes. The program also has convenient integration into the Explorer context menu from which you can safely delete or move a file.
The utility is distributed free of charge on the basis of open source, and also has a version for portable drives.
