According to a study by the FICO company, European losses from payment card fraud in 2020 amounted to 1.5 billion euros.

The results of the study showed that in 2020 in the UK, losses related to card fraud were £ 450 million, the highest level since 2008.

In addition, France and Greece have the highest rate of losses from card fraud. At the same time, Russia has seen the fastest growth in fraud, where the loss rate has jumped by almost 28% since 2019.

The UK and France suffered 62% of total losses from card fraud among the 19 European countries surveyed. At the same time, 10 countries faced a high level of fraud compared to 2019, and 9 countries remained at the same or less level of card fraud.

According to the report, in Russia the level of card fraud in 2020 was 27.6%, which is the average among European countries. Russia's losses from theft of credit card data amounted to 104.1 million euros in 2020, which is 22.5 million euros more than in 2019.

Ukraine has one of the lowest rates of online card fraud - about 7.3% (lower only in Romania), and losses from fraudulent transactions last year amounted to 1 million euros, which is 100,000 euros more than a year earlier.
