Tabbed search integration, web compatibility tools, and more.

Mozilla has announced the release of Firefox 123.0, the latest version of its flagship browser, which is now available for download in the release channel. The update brings a number of significant innovations, changes and improvements, as well as fixes several security issues, making it one of the most anticipated releases of recent times.

What's new in Firefox 123?

New features:
  • Search is now integrated in Firefox View. Users can search all the tabs on each of the section's subpages - Recent, Open, Recently Closed, From Other Devices, and History.
  • If users have problems displaying the site in Firefox while the site is working correctly on another browser, they can now report them through the Website Compatibility Reporting Tool.

Corrections:
  • When translating web pages, texts in tooltips (such as headers) and text displayed in form controls (such as placeholder) are now also translated.
  • Various security fixes.

Changes:
  • The address bar settings can now be found in the Search for Firefox Settings section.

Changes to the web platform:
  • Now linear RGB interpolation for SVG gradients is implemented, as well as the existing sRGB interpolation. Users can choose which one to use by using the color-interpolation property.
  • Previously, SVG feImage elements that point to SVG content required an SVG document to have a root element with non-percentage width and height values. Such content will now use the default values for the replaced element with a width of 300 pixels and a height of 150 pixels, and feImage will no longer crash when displayed.
  • Thanks to the support of Preload and Modulepreload technologies, it is now possible to use " Early Hints "to speed up page loading
  • Added an echo cancellation feature when redirecting audio from the microphone to another audio device
  • Firefox now supports declarative ShadowDOM, giving developers more flexibility and improved ergonomics when working with ShadowDOM directly in HTML.

You can view the Firefox Enterprise 123 release notes here, and developer information here . It's worth noting that Firefox 123.0 still has a known issue where some computers with older AMD processors don't display thumbnails correctly, resulting in black files appearing in dialog boxes. Users can resolve the issue by installing a newer graphics driver.

Firefox for Windows is available on Mozilla's official website and in the Microsoft Store .
