A clear example of how a company lost a major customer due to a cyberattack.

The British company Mobile Guardian has acknowledged the fact of a cyber attack on its systems, which resulted in unauthorized access to devices based on iOS and ChromeOS, which led to their temporary unavailability. In Singapore, the incident resulted in the deletion of data on 13,000 devices and the termination of a contract with the Ministry of Education.

Mobile Guardian is known for its device management, web filtering, and classroom monitoring solutions focused on the education sector. According to the company, the attack affected only a small percentage of devices, which caused them to be excluded from the management system and led to the deletion of data. Despite assurances about the security of user data, customers in Europe and North America are also at risk.

Singapore's Ministry of Education, which has been working with Mobile Guardian since 2020, has admitted deleting data from 13,000 students. As a precaution, the agency has ordered the company's software to be removed from school devices and is considering alternative ways to protect data.

To ensure the smooth operation of educational institutions, the Ministry has also sent additional mobile IT teams ready to assist schools and students. The department stressed that the incident caused natural concern and anxiety among students and their parents.

Both the Ministry of Education and Mobile Guardian have confirmed that the cyberattack is not related to a system configuration issue. Representatives of Mobile Guardian and the Singapore Ministry of Education assured that they are taking all possible measures to eliminate the consequences of the incident and prevent similar cases in the future.
